Univ. of Rochester Neighborhood
There are several very different neighborhoods surrounding the University of Rochester which are really quite diverse. If possible, it would be best to drive around the area to get a sense of where you want to be. Our homes are less than a 15 minute walking distance to the campus in an area that is generally quiet and safe. The neighborhood actually consists of only a few historic streets which are bound on all sides by South Ave, Elmwood Ave, and Mt. Hope. On Mt. Hope, only one block away, there is a busy retail corridor with popular restaurants. This part of Mt. Hope is also undergoing a revitalization effort initiated by the UofR, known as College Town, which will have a positive impact on the immediate area. To the north, one block up South Ave toward Highland Ave is the world famous and historic Highland Park. Every May, since 1898, the Park has hosted the Lilac Festival, aptly named for the time of year when its many (over 1200) sweet smelling lilac bushes are in bloom.
