Moving Out
Please keep in mind the following when making plans and preparations to exit the house:
-
1.GAS AND ELECTRIC:
PLEASE TAKE METER READINGS (GAS AND ELECTRIC) , and call them in to RG&E, or you may have RG&E come out and read them for you. Request that the service be taken out of your name. -
2. SECURITY DEPOSIT:
as per Lease, within thirty days after Tenant has vacated, returned all keys and provided Landlord with a forwarding address, Landlord will return one check for entire security deposit (less an appropriate amount to cover cleaning and damage to house, if any). Tenant will be provided with written receipt of any such cleaning / repair items. -
3. GARBAGE REMOVAL / EMPTYING THE HOUSE:
Note that Tenant remains responsible for garbage left at curbside for City pick up until it is completely removed. We strongly recommend following all City trash guidelines – call the City at 585-428-5990 and ask for their rules. Beware the homeless and trash pickers: if you leave ìattractive itemsî at the curb such as bags of clothes mixed with other garbage, it will likely be picked over and then spread over the whole curb (this is your problem). It will be far better to donate useful items to charity. Another tip: start setting garbage at curb several weeks in advance of move so things fit in your garbage tote. -
4. TAPE:
If you have used any sort of tape to secure pictures, cables, chords, etc. please remove any tape residue or adhesive left behind after removing tape. Denatured alcohol or paint thinner (mineral spirits) will work. -
5. CLEANING:
The house should be thoroughly cleaned by Tenant from top to bottom, attic to basement so that it is ready for a new group of tenants to move in. Cleaning should include not only large surfaces, but also detailing to small, and hard to reach, and hard to see surfaces. Cleaning fees are typically $30 per hour plus materials. -
6. MOVE OUT CLEANING CHECKLIST:
Please be sure that you have checked each and every item in the following list, carefully and have left the item clean. If everything is complete, no cleaning fee should be deducted from your deposit.
